Dear PTO Board—
I know you all share in my thoughts when I say how profoundly grateful we are for all that Mr. Garza has done for our school over the past several years. His ability to maximize resources, both personnel and financial, is a true gift and one that will be missed. His excellent record in hiring new teachers—teachers who continue to provide the highest quality of education to our children--will be a legacy that continues to enrich our school for years to come. The continued improvement in Briargrove TAKS scores, culminating in exemplary scores in every category but one this year (and missing that one only by a few points) is a testament to his persistent efforts in making sure that Briargrove is a school where every child counts and every child has an opportunity to grow and improve.
I am preparing a farewell gift for him and would love to collect letters, pictures etc. from you and your child to let him know how much we appreciate his contributions to Briargrove. I plan to present it to him next Thursday. You can mail them to me at 5207 Green Tree 77056 or drop them in my home mailbox. You can also leave them in my box at school but if you leave them at the front desk, please put them in an envelope with PTO President on the outside so that it gets to me, not Mr. Garza, first and I can include them in the book. Ms. McGah, if the faculty and admin does not already have something in mind for him—we would love your participation too. Would you mind forwarding my email to the faculty, admin and office staff?
This all has to be done very quickly….Mr. Garza will be out of the office the first part of next week at an HISD conference and will return Thursday to tie up loose ends. Therefore, please have any correspondence to me by Wednesday, June 17 at noon.
I really encourage each and every one of you to participate if you are in town. I don’t want the fact that this transition is occurring in the summer to take away from expressing our utmost appreciation for Mr. Garza’s many years of service to Briargrove.
I appreciate all that you do for our school and hope that you are having a great summer with your family.
Warmly,
Susan McConn
PTO President
